Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("Client", "you", or "your") and Storybook Weddings ("we", "us", or "our"), operated by Joel and Rachel Tempero, for wedding photography and videography services in Canterbury, New Zealand.
By booking our services, paying a deposit, or signing a booking agreement, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before confirming your booking.
Services Provided
We provide professional wedding photography and videography services, including but not limited to:
- Wedding day photography coverage
- Wedding day videography coverage
- Combined photo and video packages
- Wedding documentary films
- Couples photography sessions
- Full-length ceremony and speech recordings
- Social media highlight reels
- Complimentary wedding websites (when included in package)
The specific services included in your booking will be outlined in your individual quote and booking confirmation.
Booking and Deposit
To secure your wedding date:
- A non-refundable deposit of at least one-third (1/3) of your total quoted price is required
- Your date is not confirmed until we receive your deposit
- We only book one wedding per day to ensure you receive our full attention
- Deposits are accepted via bank transfer or other agreed payment methods
The deposit protects both parties by confirming our commitment to your date and compensating us for turning away other potential bookings.
Payment Terms
Payment terms are as follows:
- Deposit: Minimum 1/3 of total quote, due upon booking
- Final Balance: Due no later than 14 days before your wedding date
- Late Payments: Services may be withheld if final payment is not received before the wedding
- Additional Services: Any services added after initial booking must be paid for before the wedding day
All prices are quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and are inclusive of GST where applicable.
Coverage and Timing
Coverage details:
- Full Day: Coverage from bridal preparation through to evening reception/dancing
- Half Day: Approximately 4-5 hours of coverage, typically morning prep + ceremony OR ceremony + reception
- Ceremony Only: Classified as half-day coverage
We will work with you to establish a timeline that ensures we capture all the important moments. Please communicate any specific timing requirements or schedule changes as early as possible.
Travel
Travel arrangements:
- Weddings within Christchurch city are included in standard pricing
- Travel fees apply for venues outside Christchurch
- For distant locations, accommodation and additional travel costs may be required
- Travel quotes will be provided upon request for specific venues
We love destination weddings and are happy to travel anywhere – just ask us for a custom quote!
Delivery Timeframes
We endeavour to deliver your content within the following timeframes:
- Highlights Video: 8-12 weeks from wedding date
- Full Photography Gallery: 8-12 weeks from wedding date
- Documentary Films: 12-16 weeks from wedding date
- Full Ceremony/Speech Recordings: 8-12 weeks from wedding date
Peak wedding season (October-March) may result in slightly longer delivery times. We will keep you updated on progress and notify you of any delays.
Video Length and Creative Direction
As of 2025, we no longer sell videos by specific length (e.g., "5-minute highlight"). Our highlights videos typically range from 3-8 minutes depending on coverage duration and the moments captured. We craft each video to tell your story authentically, including the shots that matter most without arbitrary time constraints.
We retain creative control over the editing style, music selection, and final presentation of your content while incorporating your preferences and requests wherever possible.
Music Licensing
Regarding music in your wedding video:
- We use commercially licensed music in all our videos
- Song requests are welcome, but not all songs can be licensed
- We will discuss music options during our planning process
- If a specific song cannot be licensed, we will suggest suitable alternatives
Copyright and Usage Rights
Intellectual property rights:
- Our Copyright: All images and video footage remain the copyright of Storybook Weddings
- Your License: You receive a personal, non-commercial license to use, share, and print your wedding content for private purposes
- No Resale: You may not sell, license, or commercially distribute the content
- Credit: We appreciate credit/tagging when sharing on social media, but it is not required
- Editing: Please do not apply filters or edits that significantly alter the images when sharing publicly
Portfolio Rights
Unless you specifically opt out in writing:
- We may use images and video from your wedding in our portfolio, website, social media, and marketing materials
- We may submit your wedding to publications, blogs, and competitions
- We will never sell your images to stock photography agencies or third parties
If you require a private wedding with no public sharing, please inform us before booking and we will accommodate your request at no additional charge.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your booking:
- Deposit: Non-refundable under any circumstances, as it compensates for the reserved date
- Cancellation 90+ days before: Deposit forfeited; no additional fees
- Cancellation 30-89 days before: 50% of total booking price due
- Cancellation less than 30 days before: 100% of total booking price due
We understand that circumstances change. If you need to postpone rather than cancel, please contact us to discuss transferring your booking to a new date (subject to availability).
Date Changes and Postponement
If you need to change your wedding date:
- We will make every effort to accommodate your new date
- Date transfers are subject to our availability
- One free date change is permitted if requested more than 60 days before the original date
- Subsequent changes may incur an administrative fee
- Price increases between your original booking and new date may apply
Our Cancellation
In the unlikely event we need to cancel:
- We will provide as much notice as possible
- We will make every effort to find a suitable replacement photographer/videographer
- If no replacement is available, all payments will be refunded in full
- Our liability is limited to refunding payments made; we are not liable for consequential losses
Force Majeure
Neither party shall be liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, severe weather, pandemic restrictions, government orders, or other acts of God. In such cases, we will work together to find a reasonable solution, which may include postponement or partial refund.
Cooperation and Access
To ensure the best possible results:
- Please ensure we have reasonable access to you, your wedding party, and key moments throughout the day
- Inform your other vendors (especially photographers and DJs) that we are working alongside them
- Provide us with your final timeline at least 2 weeks before the wedding
- Designate a point of contact for the day who can assist with coordination
We cannot guarantee specific shots if access is restricted or if we are not informed of important moments in advance.
Equipment Failure
We use professional-grade equipment and carry backup cameras, lenses, and audio equipment. In the rare event of equipment failure, we will use backup equipment to continue coverage. We are not liable for any loss resulting from equipment failure beyond our control, though we carry professional indemnity insurance for your protection.
Image and Video Backup
We maintain backups of your wedding content:
- Multiple copies are made on the wedding day
- Raw files are retained for 12 months after delivery
- Final edited files are archived for 24 months
- After these periods, files are permanently deleted
- If you require extended archiving, please request this in writing
Liability Limitations
Our liability is limited as follows:
- Maximum liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for services
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- We are not responsible for shots missed due to circumstances beyond our control (weather, timing issues, guest interference, etc.)
- We are not liable for the actions of other vendors or venue restrictions
Dispute Resolution
If any dispute arises:
- We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any concerns
- Disputes shall be governed by the laws of New Zealand
- Any legal proceedings shall be conducted in the courts of Canterbury, New Zealand
- We are committed to fair and reasonable resolution of any issues
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The Terms in effect at the time of your booking will apply to your contract. We will notify you of any material changes that affect your booking.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
